Getting a Vizio TV Online
Generally, a Vizio Smart TV can receive updates to the low-level software code called firmware automatically. Some Vizio TVs can even do this while the device is turned off, as long as it's plugged in and able to connect to the internet. These firmware updates can unlock new features in the Vizio Smartcast app system and provide performance and security boosts.
If you're not sure whether your TV has the latest firmware updates, first make sure it's connected to the internet. If you've been using it simply to watch cable or satellite TV, play video games or use connected devices like DVD players or even devices with their own network connections like Google Chromecast or Amazon Fire Stick devices, it may not be. If you have been using apps on the television itself to stream online content, it likely is.
To check your TV's connection, grab your remote control and press the menu key. Scroll to the 'Network' option using the up and down arrow keys and press 'Enter.' Check your Wi-Fi or ethernet settings to make sure they match your network's and enter or re-enter your Wi-Fi password if necessary. If you're not sure about your settings, check your Wi-Fi router for instructions printed on the router or contact your internet service provider if necessary.
The network settings may give you an option to test your network connection, or you can attempt to use a streaming app on the TV to see whether you have a working connection.
How To Update a Vizio TV
Once you've confirmed the TV is online, return to the menu and scroll to the 'System' menu. From there, scroll to 'Check for Updates' to manually see if Vizio has published any new code that your TV should download and install.
The TV will ask you to confirm that you want to search for updates. Note that you may not be able to use the TV or turn it off while it updates itself, so make sure you do this at a time convenient for you. Once the TV checks for updates, it will install the latest version of its firmware as needed.
If you want to check the current version of the operating system and firmware on the device, scroll to 'System Information' in the 'System' menu and press enter.

VIZIO SmartCast Mobile is not compatible with legacy VIZIO Internet Apps® and VIZIO Internet Apps Plus® Smart TVs.
VIZIO Crave Speakers cannot output audio from TVs/displays or be connected as an additional channel to an existing sound bar or sound system. Additional supported SmartCast or Chromecast-enabled audio products are required (not included) for Multi-Room feature. Streaming different songs to different speakers at the same time is not supported when using a single app running on a single mobile device. To stream a different song to different speakers at the same time, you’ll need to stream from a different app or a separate mobile device.
