Beginning September 17, 2016 only some of the newly released podcasts are getting stuck in either 'preparing to download' or 'waiting.' Out of three updates yesterday, one remained stuck in 'waiting.' Of two today, one is stuck in 'waiting.' So, two podcasts are sitting atop the app 'waiting.' For download. Sep 3, 2018 - How to Download Battlefield V Open Beta on Origin Step 1. On Origin, if it is stuck at preparing, try removing it and adding it again. Re: Origin download stuck on preparing. /steam-powered-giraffe-quintessential-download.html. Close Origin completely. Go to your '>driveOrigin Games' folder and move the 'Mass Effect 3' folder to a different place. Run Origin as Administrator (right click the Origin exe > run as Administrator) and start the download.

Came back after not playing for a while now my game wont even update?.
Seen other people with the same issues on Google, but they where dated back in Nov-Dec with no solution.
I've been trying all the stuff mentioned but nothing is working.
It just gets stuck at 'Preparing' forever.
My ISP is: SLINGSHOT New Zealand - 100GB Plan
Any fixes?. (There are now)

I've come back for this new 1.5gb patch and it seems that it's going to happen every update.

This thread took off so to save some scrolling here is the solution for Slingshot customers:
1. Login to slingshit
2. My Internet->Internet cache Settings and turn that shit off
3. Restart router (May need to give it a minute) & Origin
The speeds seem to be just plain bad with caching off (190KB/s) so if you have any problems with speed or life in general be sure to turn it back on after you're done.

Fix:
I tried uninstalling Origin, Clean boot, Safe mode, Uninstalled AVG and all the other various workarounds on the internet to no avail.
I also tried a proxy but it would not let me login at all into Origin (HotSpot & Proxylist), so i didn't bother assuming they didn't work anymore like the release day.
I tried again today with FlyVPN after i came across a ME3 thread with people saying they were using FlyVPN to activate and you may need to spam login a few times for it to actually log you in. So i did, and it worked perfect!

Hey Ventrix, I am also on the 100GB plan with slingshot and have been having the exact same problem. But your solution works - downloading now! Thanks for taking the time to post about it. Must be some issue with akami downloads and slingshot..

I've just gone to update now.. and same problem.. I'm also with Slingshot.. And the workaround works. But is epically slow.

I am also with Slingshot on 100GB plan and have the same problem. WTF? I've only recently just changed provider. Is this a recent problem or has this been here from the beginning of origin? Any chance at getting Slingshot to fix this?

Hey.. So I emailed Slingshot and they got back to me:)
Seems they had to 'turn off caching' on my connection and it all worked sweet no VPN required!

Wow I've been trying to sort this out all morning / afternoon. I'm on Slingshot too, the 150GB plan.
I've tried the VPN and I've gone into my Slingshot user panel online and turned caching off but still its not working.
How are you guys getting the game update to initialize? If I go into the game manager in browser and click update it goes to Origin but nothing happens.
If I right click on the game in Origin and click Check for Updates, it gets stuck at 'Preparing'.

I'm stuck at it for the whole night too.
Things I tried:
1) restart origin
2) reinstall orign
3) run as admin
4) reinstall BF3
All does not work for me and it is still stuck at preparing.

I just got it sorted. Changed my slingshot caching back to on, restarted computer and modem/router then right clicked Battlefield 3 in Origin and selected 'Repair' after that was done, it automatically started updating. Thank f**k, I've literally spent some 4 hours throughout the day trying to get it to update. What a waste of my life!

I havent had any problems since release of Bf3 and been with Slingshot the whole time then early March patch stuck at 0% for 3 days trying everything even phoned them and just asked if they were blocking anything origin/Bf3 without giving any details and was assured nothing was wrong.

Yep, same problem here. Also with Slingshot. VPN is working but incredibly slow. I'm using Hotspot Shield. They limit downloads to 50kb/s though. Better than nothing I guess.. Had to do this when I first installed the game too, to patch it. So I assume this will need to be done every time a patch is released. Sucks as :(
